I HAVE A PURPOSECarmen has always been a fighter. Her mother can’t protect her, and Carmen knows that she is the only one who can save herself.

IMPERFECTLY PERFECTIn this humorous but realistic insight about women, I share how simple yet complex we are. Let’s be honest: Women can be a challenge to understand. Even among ourselves at times, we are peculiar beings. We demand it all- career, love, children, and more- and most times, we deserve it. After all, we carry the weight of the world on our shoulders and sacrifice so much. Surprisingly, it is the small things we forget to do, like laugh. I’m not talking about that little giggle thing we do trying to look cute. I’m referring to the kind of laughter you feel in the pit of your gut, and it feels like you’ve been doing sit-ups all day. What a joyous (and painful!) feeling. Do you still have that kind of laugh? Or are you caught up in the things you demand but have yet to have or experience?
I know, disappointment is no laughing matter. As women, we are the ones who feel obligated to smile when everyone else can express their vulnerabilities and pain without reprimand. But we can control this mindset. The first thing we need to understand is that we are not perfect! Ladies, beating ourselves up evokes no remedy or relief. We must not take ourselves so seriously and learn to laugh with humility. We are imperfectly perfect! Embrace It. Love It.
