A woman with a purpose. Carmen exemplifies strength and determination.
Her ability to always stay optimistic during some of her most difficult times
gives women courage and hope.
I Have A Purpose is the title of her book and also the mantra of her life! After brainstorming with her children, they came up with this title, and it couldn’t be more fitting. It was in this conversation where they realized that each of us has a purpose and that this was bigger than just the book.
Born in Harlem, Carmen was the youngest of 5 children. Growing up in a strict Catholic upbringing, she has always felt she had a close relationship with God and that her life’s purpose was one greater than her own. Carmen worked as a Radiology Administrator for a private practice before a change in ownership left her jobless. Four months later she lost her husband suddenly after thirty years of marriage. For the first time, Carmen was left alone.
No stranger to adversity, Carmen now uses her life’s experiences to teach younger men and women to see the positive in all situations. Organically transitioning her career to author and now a motivational speaker, Carmen has been featured on nation-wide radio stations, WOR, WNYC television and currently holds work-shops teaching self-awareness, perseverance, and purpose.
Carmen lives in Harlem, near her beloved adult children. She owns a consulting firm and also contributes to the community by giving back 10% of the book’s profits to various charities. She hopes that by sharing her story, she can provide hope and courage to others while reminding every one of their purpose.
